The two pavilions that make up the original building are very different in terms of both construction and form.  Built in the 1970s, with a variety of finishes, the building’s aesthetic and functional quality is poor.

A study of the building envelope revealed thermal and acoustic problems as well as progressive deterioration of the façade materials.  A complete and drastic upgrade was therefore essential to improve the insulation of the envelope as well as stability and appearance.

The design proposes folded metal façades mounted on a sub-structure of Omega profiles fixed to the current wall, with a light easy-to-instal insulating material on the inside which will be mechanically fastened to the existing surface.

This building envelope will help to protect the current one from aggressive exterior conditions while at the same time enhancing conservation.

Perforated metal will be placed over window openings to allow natural light in and at the same time mitigate sunlight at hotter times of the year.

The chosen finishes respond to the requirements and uses of the building, the material selected ensuring ease of cleaning and maintenance.

The aim is for all the outside walls to comply with simple maintenance requirements, with sufficient levels of acoustic and thermal insulation, drastically changing the appearance of the building.
